OMG sometimes America WORKS!
Today I saw a group of protesters with signs saying things like save the tortoise or honk in support of the tortoise. I had no idea what it was about...but figured anyone trying to save a small helpless like animal must have their best interest at heart. I leaned over to the drivers side and started honking the horn.
Since coming home I have been looking online to find out what it's about.
There is a certain construction site that is building and putting down pavement...well that pavement is buring alive a breed called gopher totoise...hundreds have been killed already 
Thanks to today's small protest, construction shall halt, biologists are being called in and they are going to try to save as many as possible.
I HEARD things like this used to happen in the 60's but never saw it myself.
Ok, so when I have you REALLY seen America work ?
eta- Except for court cases, we see those work all the time.

wow Deb, that is insane! I know where my grandfather lived (well near him in Juno Beach) they had a protest to save the loggerhead turtles. They were being crushed on the parkways. They re-routed some traffic & have speed restrictions all over the place now & even have a great preserve that you can bring any injured turtles to.
