OMG...GREAT NEWS!!!!!
So the great news is between my mom who is an OB nurse, my aunt who is a lab tech, My midwife and my OB not one of them understands the basic premise of a vaccine....
Here's the thing two days before I was given the Rhogham shot I was tested for Rh factor (came up neg, which I am) and rh antibodies. Also came up neg because I had never been pg before. Then on sunday I miscarried, Then I was given Rhogam on Tuesday, Then my antibody levels were tested on Friday.. They came back postive. Mass hysteria ensued and well.. you know the story. So when I went to the OB and she laid out the time line of the tests she scratched her head and was just as puzzled as my mom and the midwife. She said "it was bizzare, the rhogam should have worked and even on the off chance that it didn't you shouldn't have developed antibodies that quickly" So all agreed it didn't make sense...
Then my aunt goes to talk to a dr. in the blood lab at her hospital.. He says.... that you never draw antibody levels after rhogam is administered. Rhogam is a passive antibody. The levels drawn after the shot WILL come back positve for at least a month or two.
I called my mom and the midwife(the OB was gone for the day) and they all felt like jerks. Not one person caught that and I was led to believe that I had postive antibodies and would have trouble with pregnanies and always be high risk. In all of thier defenses they all thought the test was wrong because it just didn't add up and the all agreed to redrew the blood. But of course it would come back positive.( that result doesn't come back until next week but I know now that it will be postive) I wonder how long it would have taken any of the four to realize thier mistake...
So in conclusion.. I am fine. My antibodies have not developed and in fact the postive test just shows that the Rhogam worked. I will not be high risk and I will still be able to delive with my midwife.. You know when I get PG agian.. Also my HCG levels have dropped to 65 and the bleeding is getting slightly less.. Still moderate bleeding but the OB is sure that it should taper off in the next week. A D and C wouldn't help becuase there is nothing to remove. So I just have to bleed it out. They are going to redo the HCG levels next week to see if they are back to 0.
Also the antibiotic for the UTI seems to be working.. So I guess my nightmare is coming to close. Hopefully by this time next week the bleeding will be done and the hormones will be gone and I can just go on with my life....
Thank you all for your support during this crazy time. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't vent on here
