On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
Ok the fence About getting vaccinated. I keep going back-and-forth I already had Covid (my whole family got it at the same tome) so it’s my main reason to rush out to get it. My DH right now is adamant about not getting it. He thinks it’s to new and wants to wait it out especially since we had it and we didn’t have major complications from it.
I feel the same way at times then change my mind and think I should just get it.
If I do get it I am wondering out of personal experience which one had the least side effects. Both my parents got vaccinated one had moderna the other one got Pfizer and only one had side effects.
My issue right now is if I do decide to get it I have lots going the last week of august where I cant be home sick And I’m pretty sure I would be due for the second shot the last week if I go in the next few days.

I received Pfizer, I only had sore arm after first shot and then after second shot I had a headache for 2 days, was exhausted and had achy legs.
When did you have COVID. I know a few people who have had COVID and got vaccinated and they had very strong reactions to the shots. Have you got antibody testing. You may still have antibodies.

Re: On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
DH, my kids and I all had COVID back in early March. We did test positive for antibodies but decided to get the vaccine in May/June despite that. We both got Pfizer as we read those who had COVID had the least amount of reactions with that vaccine.
With both shots I had a sore arm (worse with 1st shot) and was a little tired the first day. My DH got a very low grade fever 24 hrs after both shots, it only lasted a few hours. Other than that, no issues.

I had back in January. I have not gotten tested I was thinking about checking if I still had antibodies but not sure where to get tested.

I would get it. I had no reaction to the first shot. The second shot I was washed out and fatigued with a low temp for barely 24 hours. To me the reasons for not getting it are not worth it.

I got Pfizer and other than a sore arm after the first dose, had no side effect.
I have heard anecdotal stories of people who had covid having a more serious (but temporary) reaction and if I recall correctly, I do think at some point there was some sort of guidance or statement from "somewhere" (sorry, I don't recall where), that people who have had covid may only require one dose

Most drs can do the antibody test. It's a rapid test with results in about 15 min. We had it done at the kids pediatrician.

On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I got it early on, I’ve been fully vaccinated since February. I had minimal side effects. I did have some reaction at the injection site that lasted awhile but nothing that affected my day to day life in anyway. I had Moderna. I understand the ‘it’s new’ argument but I would counter it with millions have gotten it and are safe. Also, the technology is not new and has been studied. My sister was hesitant to get it for similar reasons. She had COVID and had antibodies. She ended up getting on her own. Although she would have had to by now anyway because she works for a hospital system that requires it. But she got it before it was required. She felt like it was the safe option for her and any patients that she may come into contact with. For me, even if I still caught it, I feel better knowing I likely will not end up in the hospital. Same with the flu shot. 4 years ago I got the flu shot, also caught the flu, but had a relatively quick recovery compared to years I didn’t get it.

Please get the vaccine. It will provide protection against the delta variant, which is surging. Vaccines are literally the only way out of this nightmare

On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I had the Moderna shot. My first dose just had a sore arm and a slight headache the next day. My second shot I was really feeling horrible for about 8 hours the next morning - I was extremely tired and had general flu like symptoms but they went away quickly.

Re: On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I got the Pfizer one. First shot - just sore arm that night and the next day. Second shot - I felt like I got ran over by a truck the next day until about 7:00 p.m. Then, I felt fine.
DH was very on the fence, but he is out and about ALL day for work and the negatives outweighed the positives. I had said that I'd rather take my chances with side effects from the vaccine, then side effects from Covid.

Re: On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
There are a number of groups on Facebook where people who have had the vaccines discuss vaccine side effects many who have had covid and I would check them out. There is one called Pfizer vaccine side effects. These are not anti-vaccination people they are all people who have had the vaccine posting their experience. There is also a website.
Regarding the time in between - I have read that they are saying a longer time in between is leading to greater immunity from the vaccine overall. You should look into that if you decide to get the vaccines.

Thanks everyone. Can anyone confirm is it 2 weeks (14 days) after the first shot or is it the 21 days?

On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I had Pfizer. I had gotten both my shots on a Saturday. After the first shot I had gotten a slight headache that was manageable with Tylenol and by Sunday night it went away. . With the second shot, by Sunday I had gotten a really bad headache and took Tylenol again every few hours . On Monday I still had a headache and I felt like I was hung over-I was so foggy. Then I woke up on Tuesday and it was like nothing ever happened. I felt 100% fine.

I had Pfizer and it was 3 weeks. DH had Moderna and it was 4 weeks.
I only had sore arm and fatigue that evening and the next day.
After the first shot - DH was sick for 2-3 days (fever, sweat chills, etc). After the second, he only had a bad 24 hours (and not as bad as the first time).
We assumed he had had Covid after his initial reaction (he got his first shot in early January) but if he did - he had very minor symptoms if any.

I think it depends on which vaccine you get. 21 days Pfizer 28 days Moderna But I think you can wait up to 40 days if you need to delay your second vaccine.

Between myself, DH, my kids, our parents…I have yet to encounter a medical professional that would advise against it.

On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I had Moderna. It was about 28 days between first and second shot I think.
No issues after first round. A little tired but, to be fair, I’m always tired.
Second round also no issues. My arm was a little sore.
I was on fence because I was anxious about it but I asked everyone I knew in real life and no one had any issues or regrets. I’m now on that list and I feel worlds better knowing I have it.

Same. Unless it’s “doctor” Rand Paul

This! There are groups on facebook that will give you a better look at vaccine side effects whether small or large from hundreds or thousands of people across the US and more. This will help you gauge whether its right for your right now instead of this board.

On the fence on getting vaccinated… looking for personal experience
I had Pfizer the other day, just a sore arm. Same for my daughter. My son had it back in April, he had no side effects at all. The 2nd dose is when I'm away actually, so they said as long as I get it within like 5 days of when I'm supposed to get the 2nd it's fine. My daughter's 2nd is the week of cheer tryouts for high school, so she will just get hers a few days late also. It's hard to coordinate these shots around life, I get it! I was planning to get it before Costa Rica trip last month, but the timing just never worked out up until now!
And PS, don't lose your card because you will never get a new one. My son lost his (he's autistic, and his memory sucks, so no clue where it went), and we absolutely cannot get a new one. I even went back to Stony Brook's state run site, where he got it, and they said nope. People sell them, so they don't give new ones. Called the Vaccine hotline, told me to call the doctor or the place we got it from. Did that before I even called them, nope. So yeah, make like a dozen copies and keep the original in a safe. (I have a photo of his on my phone, that's it)
