One last question-Maternity Clothes
How long were you able to wait before you really needed maternity clothing? I wasn't exactly thin to begin with, but I am not too heavy. I am trying to think how long I have! I have a lot of empire waisted tops and sundresses-will those do? How many bottoms do you really need? Jeans? TIA!

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
at my 16 week visit my doctor yelled at me to buy maternity clothes. i didnt realize how tight it actually was. you have to go by how you feel. some people wear them earlier or later than others.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
i was about 5'5" and 135 when i got pregnant with DS - not too thin, but not fat either (i carry my weight in my boobs, thighs and stomach )
i needed maternity pants at 13 - 14 weeks. the elastic-waisted pants were just not cutting it anymore. plus i looked like a had a real baby bump after i switched!
nearly all of my dresses and tops were non-maternity though.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
Thanks everyone! I am only 6 weeks, but I am super bloated! Thankfully I basically wear dresses and skirts right now. I can't imagine wearing my jeans!

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I started wearing them fully at about 12 weeks (prior I made my reg clothes work with rubber bands or bella band). Once I hit 12 weeks, I was too uncomfy & figured I might as well bite the bullet since the inevitable was known.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I think i was 17 weeks by the time i got into maternity jeans. i was in denial for a while about it.
I got 2 pairs from old navy and they are so comfy. I dont know why i waited so long. I also got lots of crops/bermuda shorts at old navy too. their prices are pretty decent.
I found some dressy work pants at destination maternity (in store and online--online only carries long lengths...the stores dont.)
I got lots of tshirts at gap and old navy too. Never did well at target or kohls. I even just bought regular flowy tops from NYCO & Victoria's secret in a size larger than i would normally wear and thats worked out well.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I bought my first pair of maternity pants at 10 weeks, but I didn't start wearing maternity pants all the time until 12 weeks. My belly got big fast.
Even at 11 weeks, before I announced at work, people could notice from down the hall that I had a belly.
As for shirts, I waited at lot longer before buying maternity.
Even now at 34 weeks, I can still wear non-maternity, just one size larger. Not all styles, but some especially if I want them to be fitted.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I waited out the season change. I made it until 14 weeks before I bought anything.
I used bella band for probably 2-3 weeks prior on certain pants.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I started wearing some pants around 8/9 weeks mostly because I was so queasy all the time I couldn't take anything pressing on my tummy. Now at 12/13 weeks I'm still in some regular pants, but mostly maternity and tops and dresses are all still the same as always.

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
i had to switch to maternity pants full time around 20 wks.
I'm just about 36 wks and still wear mostly non-maternity dresses to work regularly. Wearing one today! They're definitely the most comfortable. Honestly, I don't even care if they're the most flattering - I look like I'm going to drop a baby at any time now. I was able to wear most of my non-maternity shirts until about 30 wks. Now I can only get away with 4 or 5 of them.
I have 3 pairs of maternity work pants (1 black, 1 brown, 1 tan - I bought regular length at JC Penney and wore them til it started getting really warm. Then I took them to my dry cleaner and had them all cropped into capris/ankle length.) and 1 pair of jeans (for the weekends only - i can't wear jeans to work). I didn't bother buying maternity sleepwear or loungewear - If I'm laying around the house, I either wear my non-maternity sweats under the belly or DH's PJ pants/tees.

Thanks! That is really helpful-I wasn't sure if I needed more than one pair of maternity jeans. I picked up one pair because I am miserable-and I don't want another, even though they are sooo comfy!

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I was 26 weeks - but until then I was limited, only a few of my pants still "fit"... I had also used the bella band from about 14 weeks... that was a savior. (I found a knock off band @ target - under $20 I think) also the rubber band trick.
I know you mentioned you were early along - the bloat is a killer - but it does subside.... and once your belly starts taking on more of a pregnant shape - thats when I would go for it.....
Every body is different - and you will grow at your own pace - the key is "comfort" you do not want to hurt yourself or the baby....
In my current rotation I have 3 cargo type pants, 1 denim capri, 1 pair of jeans, all have the secret belly fit - I would totally recommend these - they have really grown with me - and are so very comfortable. Worth the investment.... tops are alot easier to come by - both in maternity and regular stores - the styles today are really accomodating.
Good Luck to you

Re: One last question-Maternity Clothes
I bought a pair of maternity jeans that I wore around 8wks but before I would put them on I would still put my old pants and shorts on. Some days the bloat was not as bad so I could wear them or just use a rubber band, but this week, 12wks, I have decided since they won't zip it's time to buy elastic shorts. Old Navy has some very cute elastic shorts I bought that I could still wear next summer if I have not lost the weight and they don't look maternity. All of my tops are just regular tops. I'm very short so most shirts ar elong to begin with and maternity tops are literaly dresses on me so I buy regular loose fitting tops. Again Old Navy has some cute affordable stuff and it's on sale right now!
Edited to answer your other question.
I have 1 pair of jeans for now, but i'll buy 2 more pairs this fall winter when i'm bigger
2 pairs maternity yoga pants that I LOVE
1 pair jean shorts
2 pairs elastic real waist maternity shorts
I wear a uniform to work so I don't have to buy work clothes
