One of God's creatures...
I was on Ronkonkoma Avenue heading toward the LIE when I noticed a cat in the middle of the lane. Someone had hit this poor thing and left it there. The cat was trying to get up, but, it's hind leg was broken. NOT ONE PERSON would stop and help this animal. There were, actually, cars that ran over the top of it. I pulled over to the side, took a blanket and stopped traffic to pick him up. He was bleeding from his nose and mouth and I knew that there was nothing that could, probably, be done to help him. I took him to the local animal hospital.
What bothers me the most is that no one would help this animal. They were all too busy getting to the places they were going and would, rather, see this creature die in the middle of the road than take a few minutes to pick it and just put it on the side of the road. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

OMG, that poor little cat. Thank you so much for stopping, the cat must have been in so much pain, and just scared, at least you helped to end that pain sooner than later

Thank you, ladies, for your kind words. I have been heartsick over this. It just astounds me that there was such a lack of human compassion for this poor animal. I will never understand that. If people wonder why the world is in the shape it is, they need look no farther than this.

Thank you or caring enough to try and help the kitty, and for posting this.
It is a sad state we live in that people are too self-absorbed or callous that they cannot take one second out of their day to help

I don't know what happened to the poor cat. Judging from how bad she was and guessing that she was a stray, I am assuming that she was put down. At least she is now in a place where she has no pain and she is loved and not discarded. I can find comfort in that.

That is such a sad and touching story. Just take comfort in the fact that the cat did not die alone, terrified on that busy road. You really made a difference for this cat, even if he did not survive his injuries.
