Onion smell on hands

I have tried everything, soaking in lemon juice, toothpaste, alcohol..nothing seems to work i cooked with a lot of onions last night and can smell it on my fingers :( any ideas??

do you have as stainless steel sink? Rub your hands on it..it will take away the smell.

I think I head that if you rub them on somethng that is stainless steel, the smell *should* go away

Yes, I rub mine along the side of the knife I used after I wash it.

I have the "Rubaway" bar from Crate and Barrel. I think it is just stainless steel, shaped like a soap bar. I know this won't help for today....but wanted to share.

Wow - it happend to me to with garlic, I smell it for days after cooking with it!

I'm going to try this next time!

Crabtree and Evelyn sells this great soap specifically for getting odors like that off your hand. It's called something like Pink grapefruit and cucumber. I've tried everything and this was the only thing that worked for me.

I use SoftSoap Kitchen Fresh liquid soap . It really works to take all the cooking smells out of your hands..

fresh lemon juice.


For onion or garlic on hands, rub a fresh cut lemon all over your hands and they wash with soap. You will have no more onion or garlic smell...plus no lemon smell too! HTH

vanilla! It takes the smell of coffee out of rubbermaid pitchers, and the pickle guy used it to get the pickel smell off his hands in crossing Delancey! It realyl works!
