OOO I found something that "works" when he's whining crying fussing for NO REASON whatsoever...

I'm sure the BTDTs figured this out a LONG time ago but lately when Shane "starts" (could be anything - taking something away, diaper changes, getting in the stroller, etc). There's just no "reasoning" with the 2yo toddler brain. So now I just stop, look at him, and let out a "waaaaaaah" and fake tears of my own. Stops him in his tracks, and he's totally Then blows me a kiss or grabs my ears and we're right as rain again
Plus it's a great stress reliever and I can feel my blood pressure lowering about 5 points

OMG- my DH has been doing this with our DD for weeks now.
She's only 8 weeks old so I'm not sure how effective it is- but when she's in a screaming fit he looks at her and goes WAH WAH WAH!
Honestly- sometimes she stops and stares at him like he is nuts!

Mike and I have been doing this with Reilly for a while. She thinks it's the funniest thing and I love yelling/fake crying so it's a win-win situation. She doesn't have many meltdowns but this works like a charm when she does!
