OOS girls...what local lingo have you picked up???
Just asking this because I made myself laugh with something very Northern British that I said to my son today...I asked him what he wanted for his tea...
So wondering what kind of local lingo you out of state ladies have picked up!

This is the opposite Q, but I had a lot of "massholes" (there lingo) at college so I picked up "Wicked" and a somehow a weird pronunciation of the word "room."
I love the way people from the Boston area speak!

I love the way people from the Boston area speak! I dated a guy from Boston a long time ago. his favorite thing to say when someone made fun of his accent was:
"I paaaaked my caaaa at Havaaaaad yaaaaad"

I have to say, I never thought I'd be one of those Jersey people that says they're going "Down the Shore" I always check myself when I'm about to use that phrase.
But then again, growing up on LI, I never said "going to the hamptons" anything east of Coram to me was "going out east"

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!
I grew up in Delaware where we "Went to the beach." We always knew who the tourists were because they would say they were "at the shore".

When I went to school upstate I learned and still use:
wicked jimmies instead of sprinkles pop for soda y'all
plus I dropped my Lawn Guyland accent.

I would call Orange county,"the OC" before there was even a TV show. They really do call it that in Cali.

Not sure about upstate, but I know people in Boston/Rhode Island use it alot.
I have friends up in Boston, and my girlfriends hubby constantly uses the phrase "wicked awesome"

I'm from upstate...I've never used the word "wicked" unless I was talking about the Broadway show.

a lot of people say "shut up" when you describe something to them...like.."NO!!..shut up!!" or "Really??? Shut Up!" ..and they say "mmmhmmmm" instead of uh huh....I'm sure more will come, lol i've only been here three weeks.

Re: OOS girls...what local lingo have you picked up???
I went to college in PA and picked up the word "Nuh-Uh". I HATE IT but can't stop myself from using it!!!!
I live upstate now and they say "Fantabulous" all the time. I refuse to say it and am trying desperately NOT to lose my Lawn Guyland accent (although I get made fun of for it all the time )!
