Opinion on blinds-
Hey guys
We have a split where the dining room and kitchen were the back of the house but we put an extension on the back to make the dining room open on both sides and open access to the kitchen. In the back of our house the extension is a tv room/den (on the dining room side) and kitchen table. Standing in the center of the room facing the back of the house and looking at the wall of the room from left to right we have 4 casement windows, a space where we have a curio cabinet, another 2 casement windows. The wall on the right that butts up to the 2 casements has a slider on the left , a bunch of light switches for all the high hats inside this room and another 2 casements on the right that are close to our kitchen cabinet and drawer.
Our kitchen cabinets are a cherry color Our wood floors are a warm cherry Our furniture is dark Our mouldings are thick and white Paint color is bar harbor beige or one shade lighter The wall off the dining room has the tv
The room itself has high ceilings The house is pretty bright especially from the front which faces west
We had gotten a few estimates for the faux wood blinds and one designer that came suggested we do wood color blinds because it would complement the kitchen cabinets and floor. She said she likes to match the things that won't change (we are never changing the kitchen or floors. If we change paint it would be for a neutral color)
So my question finally is this Would you do white blinds or wood colored blinds?
I feel like the wood would make the mouldings pop My sister says the house will look like a cave
I guess I should add that I'm going to do a curtain for the slider and while I originally considered curtains and white blinds for the back windows I think that would be too much fabric and rods all over the place. Then I considered white blinds and valences and curtains for slider but I'm not sure I want valences because part of me doesn't want to over the mouldings.
Ugh. Maybe I should just keep my glorified post it note paper shades....

Re: Opinion on blinds-
I would do white wood or faux wood blinds. I agree with your sister with the cherrywood blinds. That's a lot of cherry wood and the white blinds will break it up nicely.
With that said, it's all a mater of taste. Some people love the wood blinds w white moldings.
we did all antique white faux wood blinds throughout the house (Our moldings are antique white - not bright white)

Re: Opinion on blinds-
I would and did white faux wood blinds. There are about ten different white color choices too. I agree with your sister the dark wood blinds will make your home very dark and would not do that.

Opinion on blinds-
I would do white- that is what was in my house when we bought it and I have no plans of changing it- I do not generally like dark wood for blinds I feel it makes the space look darker.

Re: Opinion on blinds-
I guess I'm leaning towards white too
Part of me thinks the cherry colored blinds might be a home run but if they're not I'd cry about it forever lol
White is definitely safer and it is pretty
