Opinion on party favors
Hey girls, I just need some opinions...
We are having a party for DS who will be 3 on 9/11. It is a firetruck themed party. I am getting candy firetruck lollipops and hate getting other kinds of junk to give out as favors. Plus I am having about 30 kids and don't want to bother with it. So, instead I am thinking about making a donation to families of 9/11 and putting the pops in a bucket with a sign that says in lieu of favors we have made the donation.
Thoughts?
TIA!
eta: the kids are also getting a plastic fire hat & a coloring book from the fire truck guy I hired to come entertain the kids.

Totally honestly- I think it's kind of morbid (imo it is a tough day to have a bday and it might be nice to keep the issue separate) Plus the kids are too young to get it anyway.
I will probably get flamed for saying that but of course I don't mean any disrespect to anyone/ anything 9/11 related.

Ditto...I just didn't want to be the first one to say it...I know it isn't a day I am going to be celebrating anything...

Re: Opinion on party favors
I agree with BrinaEsq. I think your heart is 100% in the right place, but at 3 I think that kids understand goody bags and sort of look forward to getting them...I would do something else. We went to one party where they did a donation and gave out a cup with the kid's name on it. The party was at a color me mine so the kids also got the pottery they made too....
What about just giving out a small toy fire truck like the boomer one from chuck and friends or a matchbox one?http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4421897 I know walmart sells a 5 pack of different ones for $10 in a rescue vehicle set.

Re: Opinion on party favors
I think a donation in lieu of favors for a 3 year old's party is a bit "off". The party is for children, they're not going to "get it" to appreciate the intention. Weddings and the like, I TOTALLY think it's an awesome idea, but not for a child's birthday.

I don't think I would do the donation either. I do think that the hat, coloring book and the lollipop are fine.

ITA! We had two parties this weekend and my DS loved walking out with his little goody bag.

ITA! I think the kids would be more than happy with what you are giving them already. And it's not an overload of goodies for the parents to deal with. Perfect!
