Opinions needed - Time out question
So I have posted numerous times about miki, how she is in a (VERY LONG) phase of not listening, flipping out over the smallest things, etc
the other day, I sat her down and had a talk with her about how I expect her to act and what the consequences will be if she acts up...she is getting a BIT better but still has alot of "moments"
the past few days, when she is not listening or whatever and I tell her I am going to put her in time out, she FREAKS, screams saying "no mommy, don't put me in time out..." and will RUN away from me.
she has never been like this before - granted, she never liked TO but she never freaked like this
what gives? Maybe I should just not say I am going to put her in there and just do it . I am just concerned as to where this "fear" of TO comes from

hmmm...does she go to pre-school or something, or see it somewhere that it has been used as a threat...relative, friend, etc??

she goes to in home care and I know sometimes she does go to TO there but this is nothing new. The sitter has my permission to use TO for punishment as she sees fit (miki usually does pretty well there so she rarely goes into time out)

Hmm... I dont know... But I guess its better to fear them then to not fear them right? I'd tell her if she behaves, she wont get one and hopefully they will will scare her enough that she'll start behaving.
I have the opposite problem. When I threaten TOs, DS says "yes, I want a timeout!" and then when I put him there he dances, laughs and has a little party by himself in the corner

I don't know what's the best thing to do, but I feel it's fair to warn DS he's about to get a time out. Sometimes he does correct his behavior on his own, sometimes not. I would think it might be even scarier if the child has no choice in the matter, but I could be wrong.
