Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
Ok, here is the deal, DH & I are having my sister and my cousin & her 3 kids over for Christmas dinner. Am I cheating if I order dinner instead of cooking it? I saw the Stop & Shop circular had a dinner that serves 6-8 people for $59.99. The price includes a spiral ham (that serves 6-8), mashed potatoes, butternut squash, a sweet potatoe casserole, soup, an apple or pumpkin pie and 12 dinner rolls. I know that we would be spending more money than that if we bought the ingredients individually.

It's up to you. MIL gets T-giving and Christmas catered when we see her in Florida, so it doesn't bother me as long as its good

No way! Especially if it makes your life easier.
Just remember to hide the evidence

Re: Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
Christmas dinner (or any meal, for that matter), is about friends and family, it's not about who cooked the food. What good is having a family dinner if you are working your a$$ off all day in the kitchen, and can't enjoy the company? I think THAT is cheating the family out of your company.

I have to agree, sorry. I would never cater a holiday....part of the fun of it is the cooking!

I agree.. DH's family did that deal for a few years from the grocery store and most of the people were miserable because it was just gross.
This year I decided to spend Tgiving with them and did all the cooking so I wouldn't be subject to it.

Re: Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
I think it's cheating but maybe you could get parts of it and make parts of it.
They wouldn't advertise it and prepare for it if people didn't do it.
I say if you're tight on time and money, go for it. I just re-read your post.
4 adults and 3 kids? Yes, I would definitely do it.

Re: Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
I don't think it's cheating but I wouldn't spend $60 on a meal that's pretty easy to prepare.

Re: Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
I have never catered dinner for a holiday, but after the Thanksgiving i had, it sounds like a great idea! I cooked and shopped and prepared for days, and i was exhausted the whole day after. I say go for it!

Re: Opinions needed- Am I Cheating?
We are going to do it, it is going to be much easier. Last year I cooked and DH & I spent most of the time in the kitchen and not that much time with our family.
