Opinions on an out of date HPT
I broke down and tested (BFN) but the test has a Feb 2006 expiry date - what happens when they expire? The reference line was big and bold

I'm not sure what happens when they expire. Maybe try calling the 800 number of the company and ask them. If I were you I would retest with another test.

Re: Opinions on an out of date HPT
I found this, hope this helps...don't give up hope yet...
Is it possible to get a false reading? Yes. Home pregnancy tests are not 100 percent accurate, and when you factor in human error, environmental factors and the chance of a faulty product, you see why re-testing is a good idea in most cases. Although false positives are much more rare than false negatives, they still happen. For example, if you have taken the test at the wrong time of your cycle or contaminated the test, exposed the test to harsh environmental conditions (excess sun exposure or extreme cold can affect certain tests) or if the test has expired, you may get a false reading. The most common cause for a false negative is taking the test too soon. As hard as it is to wait until you've missed a period, you will get a more accurate result if you test no earlier than 12 days past ovulation. You should always talk to your doctor if you believe you have a test result that is false.

31. Can I use an expired test? No. The chemicals used in HPT's deteriorate after awhile and no longer function properly. This can cause a totally defective test (no control line), a false positive, or a false negative. Your best bet is to use a newer one!

I am not going out and buying another one - I'll just wait until the blood test on Thursday
