Opinions on changing daycare providers...wwyd oh yes, and its long.

I was hoping you guys could weigh in on this for me and tell me what you think....

After my last post about stopping working, my husband and I decided that it was best for me to keep working, and to be honest, I am glad we made this decision. My company went bankrupt and anyone who was laid off now will not be getting their redundancy payoff, so had I actually lost my job, I woud be without anything. And, we are hoping for another baby soon, so it makes sense for me to keep working for the maternity benefits (six weeks pay & 9 months statuatory pay from the government...its pretty good here) so I am going to keep working.

So here is my dilemma...Noah is currently at a nursery and has been since he was 1, we love our daycare situation, they are wonderful, and they are like our extended family. Noah is due to start half day pre-school at a local school and my dilemma was about him being picked up at school, his current nursery is a car ride away, and the logistics are too difficult imo...

So I have been in touch with a childminder who only lives a few streets away, she will pick Noah up at school and take him to her house where he wil stay until 5.30 pm, she has two kids of her own, and looks afer another little boy on Thursdays. Noah is a very social child, and I worry about the lack of social contact for the 3 hours a day before she picks up her own kids I think is will be okay, but he has a few very good friends at nursery and I feel sad separating them. One of hem will be in his class at school, so they will be together each day.

anyway...just looking for opinions on changing his situation, what would you do? I am scared of change full stop, but my main school of thinking now is doing whats best for my family, and I think using a childminder is better for my family...

In the end you have to do what is right for you and your family. He will adjust to the new routine just fine! Chat Icon

As long as he gets the social interaction for most of the day, I don't see 3 hours being an issue. Sounds like its time for him to do something new!Chat Icon

He's still going to get social interaction, just a little bit less. I would do whatever would create the less stress for me logistically. I find the whole working mom thing stressful to begin with. He'll adjust fine, I think it's US who worry and have the harder time adjusting. Chat Icon Chat Icon
