Opinions on trampolines
I know my DD really wants one, and I was all set to get it for her, but a friend's son broke his wrist on one this week and needs surgery for it. This same friend was just telling me a week ago not to get it for DD because they are too dangerous (her son must've been at a neighbor's house cause they don't have one).
So now I'm seriously reconsidering getting one.
My niece fell off her bike and broke her arm, so nothing is injury-less, but I'm just not sure. Also, my DD is in gymnastics and uses the trampoline there every week anyway.
What do you think?

Re: Opinions on trampolines
I say no too. My brother has broken his ankle once and wrist twice, or may have been reversed on a trampoline just from landing the wrong way.
Also, I know a lot of insurance company's will not insure you if you have one. When we bought our previous home and were shopping around that was one question they all asked and if it was yes, it needed to be taken down.

I also say no. My neighbor had one in her backyard. I was volunteering in the ER when she came in our junior year of HS. She needed facial reconstruction after landing badly on the metal bars. She broke her nose and cheek bone.

Re: Opinions on trampolines
Not at my house. I let dd on them at others homes & she's in gymnastics & is on it but I will not have one at my house. The high rate of neck/spinal injurys prevent me from increasing my kids probability with having one at home.

Opinions on trampolines
The difference in the gym ones is that they are usually tumble track designs, and don't have springs. We had one growing up, and I was a flipping fool on it! Never broke anything and had fun, but I wouldn't put one in my own back yard. You insurance company will likely drop you or skyrocket your rates anyway, since it's an attractive nuisance.

We had one offered to us free after my husband's friend said he was getting rid of it.
I asked why he was getting rid of it & the answer was his insurance company threatened to raise the rates or drop him.

Re: Opinions on trampolines
we have onene son loves it because he has sensory issues. I only let the 2 boys go on it at a time, Im always there when they are on it, and will NOT let any of the kids in our neighborhood on it.

Re: Opinions on trampolines
Too much trouble.
I mean.. I love them and I would love to have one.. but it's not worth it for me to be playing policewoman the entire time to make sure they are following the rules and not having too many kids. Plus I'd feel terrible telling some of their play dates that they are just NOT allowed on the trampoline because I think their parents are litigious.

Re: Opinions on trampolines
I will not get one or allow my son on one if I am not there with him. I think they are just too dangerous . That springless one looks interesting though.

Opinions on trampolines
We have one. The kids love it. We've had one for four years and so far the only injury that's occurred on it is when my idiot brother in law decided to get on it with the kids and gave my DS a bloody nose. There are rules about how many kids are allowed on it at once, no big kids and little kids at the same time, etc. Accidents happen on bikes, in pools, etc. You just have to be careful, JMHO.

Re: Opinions on trampolines
I have this one in our play room
It uses bungee cord instead of metal springs, has a netted enclosure and padded bars. DS loves it and get's his energy out on it. it's small and the bar that goes around is the perfect height for him to hold while he's jumping.

I wouldn't get one.

Same here.
Our next door neighbor offered us theirs for the same reason and we declined for the same reason.
My neighbor behind me has one and two of his children have sustained injuries from it: broken arm and a broken foot. They still use it.
