Opinions PLEASE.... (Gender related)
So I had to go back twice for my Level II to get allt he measurements and the last time they were able to get what they needed except they couldnt tell gender - the baby legs were closed - I am 21 weeks pregnant - Now I dont go back to the doctor again till 1/29 at which time I will be 24 weeks - would you wait for that appt. and hope they cant tell them or would you go to a place who charged $50 for gender determination.. Impatch Medical Technologies (who does this) has a service for $50 - DH and I really want to know but DH is afraid what if they are wrong.. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO????
What do you think??
Would you go and pay $50 bucks to find out?????

Depends on how important it is too you to find out gender. Its only a couple of weeks, and IMO the $50 could be used for diapers or baby essentials opposed to gender... Since its not life threatening sono I would just wait.

I hope I don't get flamed here but depending on how much your copay is I'd say that I slipped on the ice so I'd have to get a sono. But that's just me and I am a very impatient person!

HAHA!! I am definately not flaming you!! I almost did the same thing! My technitian told me they were 85% sure of a girl, but not 100% and I wanted to get another sono so bad.. I went this week, 26 weeks for something else.. and I was tempted to ask for another sono by either lying about falling or something.. but Im not a good liar.. and I was afraid I would be found out... so no sono for me.. I did get the impact technology reconfirmation of the gender though... and they confirmed it was a girl.. i surely hope so since I registered already!!!

Re: Opinions PLEASE.... (Gender related)
I guess that depends. Three weeks isn't that much longer to wait, but I can understand being really anxious to find out at this point. Do you mind spending the $50? Are you going to find out much sooner that it's even worth it? You probably don't have to worry too much about them being wrong, and if they are, you still have the sono at 24w to comfirm at.
As excited as I'd be to find out already, I think I'd personally just wait until 24 weeks. If the doctor still couldn't telll, then I'd opt for the private sono.

What's an impact technology reconfirmation? That sounds so high-tech!!

There's no guarantee that the baby is going to cooperate either.
We did the whole 3D sono thing when I was 28 weeks, and even though we already know 100% the gender (had an amnio), my little one did not want to cooperate and let the tech get good pictures for us.

Re: Opinions PLEASE.... (Gender related)
My only concern is that if you are going to one of those "entertainment only" sono places, the techs may not be as well trained. Now gender should be very clear at 24 weeks, but I would be more afraid of a mistake being made at one of those places -- sometimes untrained techs mis-identify the cord as boy parts. As long as they print out a clear photo for you, you should be able to identify the gender easily, though.
