Opinons on Business idea
I live in Washington Heights. It is a great area with lots of families and is continuing to grow. There is no bookstore in this neighborhood. The only coffee/cafe place is Starbuck's and it is always overcrowded. I have an idea for a bookstore/cafe that will focus on families. Selling books from conception-parenting. Selling fresh sandwiches, salads, baked goods and organic homemade babyfood. We would have storytime on a weekly basis and also do seminars on things like how to save the most $$$ for your childs college etc. My question is... does this sound like something you would utilize if it were in your neighborhood? TIA.

I think its a great great idea.....
I woudl love it...
but it would be a lot of work, and you have to find the right location and also be approved....
My friends tried to start their own family style chuck e cheese type place, more educational though.
They had over $2 Million in Lenders and they could not get approved for a loaction. Places didnt want it there etc....
Get moving, we like the idea!

hmmm...
it sounds like a great idea....the only thing i would be concerned with in the heights area is looking at the real "demand" for a place like that....being a cop in harlem, im not too far from there, and im just wondering how the success might be for a place like that....i think that a place like that might do phenomenal more mid-uppertown (70s-100s)....JMO though- im a super cautious person...and we all know what a place might cost to rent in the city, so...
good luck though- i envy that u have the desire to do such a thing and act on it...im such a chicken...

My SIL and BIL did this in Baltimore and they loved it, but once my neice was born they were too overwhelmed with their family and their "real" jobs and they had to let Three Birds go
I have to tell you though, they had all used books in good condition and it was a great idea, they took donations from friends and family and scoured book sales and library sales and that is how they got their product, it was a really smart idea.
