*************************************
i am on CD12. i have been taking OPKs since CD7 because i have a short cycle.

the past five OPKs i took, the control line showed, but wasn't as dark as i expected, and there was NO line in the spot that would represent a positive OPK, even though i thought the instructions said there would usually be a faint line.

i test every morning about the same time with FMU. i use a cup to make sure i am doing it right. i am using CBE OPKs, the regular ones, not the digitals.

this morning, i got a dark control line, and a dark positive, but it was not as dark as the control line - almost, but not quite.

sooo.... is it positive? i checked the instructions and there was nothing in there about the darkness/lightness of the line! please help! is this a true positive??

TIA!!

I don't always get a second line.

For OPK's you should be testing in the afternoon, not with FMU.

As far as it being positive...as long as the test line is lighter than the control line, it does not indicate a positive surge.

i am confused. the OPK directions said to hold urine for at least 4 hours, and it is usually best to test with FMU.

are they wrong? and if so, how could i not pee for four hours in the afternoon? i usually pee at least once an hour Chat Icon

help! i want to do this right, we are already on month #4 of trying.

I use the digital ones and they say not to use FMU. I used them last month for the first time and it was very tough for me to hold it that long.AFter lunch I would try not to drink that much and than I'd test right when I got home for work. Good luck

Re: OPK question - please help!! (sorry so long)

I started using OPK's last month and am now on my second month.

This was my experience last month:

I never got anything in the control line, I stupidly forgot to test two days in a row (this was the day before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving so I was totally distracted). Well when I did test the day after Thanksgiving I did get a second line as well as the next day. It was NOT as dark as the control line but it was dark. I didn't think that this was O bc
1. I thought I was on a 48 day cycle (the two cycles I had prior were 48 days) and it would be too early.-Since I went of BC in Aug I've been off.
2. I took the directions maybe a little too literally thinking that the test line needed to be the exact color as the control line.

After those two days the test line was present but clearly fainter for about two days. Then back to nothing in the test line.

Anyway AF came on cycle day 30. It turns out I WAS O'ing on Thanksgiving and forgot to test. The LH surge was still a bit present after I O'd.

My advice is if you see a dark line in the test area BD!!!

Have you ever seen the website Peeonastick.com (I know, nice name
Chat Icon )

Anyway it helped me figure out the whole OPK mess. Check it out:Pee on a stick

ETA: I test everyday after work around 6:30 PM..I do my best to "hold it" for about 3 hours. The drive home is not fun trying to wee wee dance and drive at the same time!
