Honestly, I feel you need to do both. Opks are the prediction of ovulation and charting confirms ovulation. Also by charting you can see if your hormones are stable or fluctuating. You can also determine how long your LP is and if AF is truly late..... It can also clue you in to certain issues like luteal phase defect.
