Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
I had to to order more before my retrieval. I think I only needed 1 or 2 extra injections of Ganerelix ( not sure if I spelled that one right lol). My pharmacy was really good about getting them to me the following day.

Re: Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
I had to order some meds during the process as well. Some of them were next day and some took 5 days to arrive. It depended on whether it was a refill or a new medication. New meds were faster than refills.

Re: Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
Sorry crashing here. Just wondering are IVF meds covered under insurance if you have a drug plan? I hear ladies say that their meds cost thousands. Just wondering if that is because they don't have prescription coverage??

Re: Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
I had to order more meds but I was on them for much longer than most people are - 16 days!
I think it all depends on how your body and follicles respond, mine were very slow growers!!

Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
my insurance only covers when u use freedom pharmacy. so before I started my IVF cycle I ordered the entire list of what the nurses called in. as the cycle progressed and they adjusted my meds according to how I was responding to it I did need refills quite a few times. freedom pharmacy was great, they deliver within a day. there were 2 instances where even this fast delivery didnt work for me so I just paid out of pocket at a regular pharmacy in the city that works with fertility injectibles

Re: Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
For my first cycle I ran out of a med (can't recall which one) and the nurse ordered me more. It was delivered the same day by the pharmacy. For my 2nd IVF cycle I had left overs.
I would assume it's common for them to have to order more meds. They don't know how you are going to respond so they may just order a minimum amount and add later. Makes sense especially for self pay patients since the meds are so

I am very lucky because I have IVF coverage and a drug plan. For me the meds are covered by my drug plan which is huge because they are soo $$$

Re: Ordering more meds during an IVF cycle??
I wonder. I am not at IVF just yet but I may be shortly. Trying to get all my ducks in a row. I have prescription coverage. It is a tier program. Just wasn't sure if IVF meds are included in that program. I have zero IVF coverage so that whole thing is going to freak me out when/if the time comes

I have a prescription plan but they dont' cover IVF meds or treatments..so e/t was oop. Talk to your RE - if you let them know you don't have ANY coverage they sometimes will try and help find donated meds for you. Also, ordering as you go is better b/c you don't know how much you will need and if you over order then you are essentially wasting money. Good luck!

my insurance covers meds thru the IVF coverage (not the lifetime allowance but separate med coverage), but as I said above, only if I am using their freedom parmacy services
another thing that I found out as I came in for RE was that the anesthesia was a completely separatre charge and insurance company may not cover it and this charge was not on the center's price list for IVF process. I was lucky that my medical covered everything, but it could have not. Also even with my very good coverage I spent around $1K on meds. btwn all the co-pays, some that were OOP and some that only covered a portion it all adds up. I know compared to others $1K is nothing and that I am lucky but I should have researched better this so I wouldnt be so surprised with added expenses
this whole thing is so no matter what

Great point even if you have IVF coverage there are some things you may have to come OOP for. We had to pay for anesthesia $750 OOP since she didn't take insurance
