Re: Organic Drain cleaner

sadly I use draino, but I was reading the "home remedy" book my Mom got me. They said mix white vinegar & hot water and pour it down a drain to clean it out naturally. I'm going to actually try this this weekend.

Yes. I used Mrs. Meyers Draino Type but it did nothing.

Instead I have been using this and it works FANTASTICChat Icon

I've tried the vinegar and hot water, and while it might work to keep your drains clear, it did not work at all on a bad clog. I still use Draino for that, eventhough I know it's awful. It's the only thing I've found that works.

Do you have a trap on your drain to catch the hair? If you don't, that would probably help also.

Re: Organic Drain cleaner

I've had numerous problems with my long hair and our drains.

It seems the hair got wrapped around the screw that kept the drain in place. It took me forever, but I cleaned it out and I bought a hair catcher to go over the drain that I clean out after every shower.

What a difference it has made. I suggest 2-3 times a year, cleaning out the drain/trap/screw to make sure there is no hair or soap build up .. it makes a world of difference

I bought this at Bed BAth and Beyond I think ...

Re: Organic Drain cleaner

we have the drain cap and every two weeks I remove the cap and take a coat hangle and pull any residue that its there (in the shower mainly). We have yet to have any clogs. My mom taught me that.
