Organic Milk

Does anyone use Orgainic milk? I am starting Sara on Orgainc milk - since it is healthier than regular milk.

If you use orgainnic milk what do you do when you are out and your DC needs a bottle ?

Re: Organic Milk

We do

You can buy Horizon Organic in little drink boxes that don't need to be refrigerated. I think they come in a 4 pack. I've gotten them at several places Walmart, Stop N Shop, etc. SO handy! Organic or not! Chat Icon

Just make sure its not the Horizon "Vanilla" Milk like Starbucks sells, I couldn't understand why Aidan went nutso over it til I tasted it one day - its so sweet! Chat Icon

Ultimately though, if he wants milk in a restaurant, someone's house or where ever, and I don't have it, I don't go crazy, but 99% of the time he gets it.

Re: Organic Milk

I use organic milk at home, and try not to let my kids drink too much milk when we're out. However, my kids are 2 and 5, so bottles are not an issue. When they used bottles, I would bring the bottles out in a refrigerated bag with a couple of ice packs and never had a problem. Both of them were off bottles at 14 months, so that didn't last too long. If you choose to use Horizon milk boxes, you might want to do some research. There is some information out there that Horizon's milk is not completely organic. Do whatever you feel comfortable with......just be informed.

We only use Organic milk but if we're out and she gets milk (which rarely happens since she's a milk drinker) she gets regular milk. Same with cheese and other dairy products.

Re: Organic Milk

We only use Organic Dairy, both for Benji and us. So, we are never out because there is no other milk in the house for "just in case". If we ARE out unexpectedly, DH runs out to the corner delicatessen and buys a carton.

hmm did not know that about Horizon, I did a search but the only controversy I could find was from last year about the cows not having enough pasture. Horizon is a very large co. and I think that puts them in a bad light too. So I'll consciously pick Stonyfield or Organic Valley over them now anyway if not for any other reason than its in the best interest of small business.

In any event, I checked my stash downstairs and Organic Valley makes the little boxes too. So thats an option...
