Our baby boy is here early!
So even thought my due date was 7/15, the baby decided to make his debut early- I delivered a healthy baby boy on Friday, June 9th at 9:19pm. He was 4 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces and 18 inches long. He was been in the NICU this week, because he was 34w6d, but he is breathing on his own, maintaining his body temp on his own, and doing very well with the feedings. I can't breast feed him yet, because he is not that coordinated yet, so I am pumping milk and giving it to him in a bottle. Here is my birth story:
Last Friday at about 2pm I was watching a DVD in bed, being a good little bed rest girl when all of sudden I felt wet. I started freaking out a little, and called my doctor. She told me to call my husband and go to the hospital, because I was already 90% effacted and 1-2 centimeters dilated from 2 weeks ago. A nurse from the pratice came over to my house (we have gotten close since my mom passed away 7 weeks ago) and while she was there, my water REALLY broke, all over the kitchen floor. I was standing in the kitchen watching this huge puddle move towards the fridge when I got this idea in my head that I was going to electocute myself, so I get out the mop and I am trying to mop while all this water is coming out of me. The nurse was laughing so hard, she almost peed her pants. DH gets home, we are driving to the hospital when I feel my first contraction at about 3:30. At the hospital they examine me, and my doctor wants to give me pitocin to make my contractions more regular. While, it flew from there. I never got the epidoral I wanted, even though I kept asking for it because by the time they checked me, I was rimming. I was given a drug similar to Demoral, which took the edge off a little, and let me relax between contractions. I pushed for about 10 minutes, and then he was out! We have not named him yet, because he has not had his bris. He will have it when he puts on some weight. I will try to post pictures later.
