Our Birth Story
Here is our story...
I was 6 days early. I woke up with minor menstrual cramping at about 1:50 AM. Then again at around 2:00 or so. I had an internal exam the day before which made me bleed. I was 3-4 cm and 50% effaced. The bleeding from the internal was over by the time I went to sleep that night. I thought the cramping was from that. So I went back to bed. I woke up a few more times within a half hour so I started to time the cramping. I started timing them at 2:50 am. They were 4 minutes apart. I started to get nervous so I woke up DH. I told him to start writing the times down because they were getting extremely painful and I couldn't concentrate. They were about 3-4 minutes apart. DH said that I had to wait till they were 4 minutes apart for an hour before we go to the hospital. I told him that I have been timing them for an hour and they are getting really bad. I started to freak out because I should have been in the hospital by then! I was bleeding at this point worse than when I had the internal. We called the doctor. She told me to hold for the doctor on call. I told him I think I am in labor! I had two contractions while on the phone with him. He told me to get to the hospital now!
My DH was moving very slow getting dressed. He don't think he realized the urgency to get me to the hospital! I had the worse feeling to push over and over again in our bedroom. I screamed, "if you don't get me to the hospital now I am going to have this baby in our bedroom! Hurry the f*ck up!"
We started to leave the house. I got in the car. He went back into the house to take out the garbage!!! He is a neat freak! I was trying not to push in the car. Thank god I took lamaze!!! It realy helped me at that time. DH finally got in the car after he went back into the house for the friggin car seat!!! I was screaming at him to hurry up. We got to Stony Brook Hospital. Luckily we live only 3 minutes away. We went through every red light. The hospital is under construction so we had to ask the parking attendant where to drop me off. DH walked SLOWLY to the parking attendant. I was screaming at him to run! He got back to the car and we drove into the parking garage. He started to drive up and down the garage trying to find the entrance! I am in so much pain at this point and trying not to push. I was so frustrated with DH you have no idea! We finally parked the car. It was a little after 4:00 at this point, I think. I walked down the long construction corridor having contractions and trying not to push. We got to the labor and delivery floor. The woman at the desk was busy doing something on the computer. I said I was in labor and I am going to have this baby in the hallway! They took me to the room and checked me.
I was 9 cm! They quickly got me to the delivery room. The doctor got there 10 minutes later. I was doing paperwork in the bed. I started pushing shortly after.
Alexandra Taylor was born at 5:22 AM. She was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 1/2".
My entire labor and delivery was only 3 1/2 hours long from begining to end.
She is so beautiful! I can believe she is ours!  Image Attachment(s):
