Our Disney Trip - Review and Pics (LONG!)
I can't believe another trip has come and gone already
Ok, where to start..... 1st - We stayed at our usual hotel - the All Star Movies. We have been staying there for just about 10 years, and this was, by far, the WORST experience. Little things - shower drain wouldnt stay up and we called everyday, but had to keep wedging things under it. My in-laws ran out of TP in their room THREE times - it was like houseeping kept forgetting to leave more. Bigger things - Our door would not shut unless you really PULLED it shut. We didnt realize this until we got back from the park one day and Genevieve walked in without a key. We called the front desk FOUR times, and also asked them to remind the housekeeper to pull it shut (we understand if it would not be fixed while we were there) and we came back to the door being opened 2 more times. The hotel also screwed something else up that caused us to leave a day early. It was confirmed at check-out that we were correct and they would fix the issue, but we already had the car packed and were ready to drive home.
We went with 13 people - my wonderful husband made us great dinner reservations. We had a horrible experience at Tony's in Magic Kingdom. We were never really a fan, but usually did one dinner there since it's so convenient but we will not be going back. Also, the Wave in the Contemporary Resort. This was our second bad experience and will not be going back there either. All the rest of our dinners/lunches were fabulous. We ate at most of our regular places - Garden Grill at Epcot, 50's Prime Time in Hollywood Studios, The Coral Reef at Epcot. I cant remember them all, but we tried the Hollywood and Vine for the first time at Hollywood Studios and did the Playhouse Disney character lunch - and OMG! - the food was AMAZING! They had Special Agent OSO, HAndy Manny and Llittle Einsteins - Billy and Charlie loved that. I also need to mention a hidden treasure - Boatwright's Restaurant in the Port Orleans Hotel. They give you Cornbread while you wait for your meal and the food there is so good. This was our 2nd time eating there and it was just as good as we remember. Also, theres usually open tables if you dont have a reservation! We also ate at the T-Rex place for lunch one day at Downtown Disney. I didnt have my camera, so no pics, but it was really really awesome and the food was goood.
It was tough with the 13 people we went with. We have gone with groups before, but this was hard. We had 5 kids, 5 and under. We ended up separating the last few days of the trip and just meeting for meals. We also lost Little Billy on a ride (It's a Small World). I had Charlie and my f-i-l was holding his hand on the line. When we got on the boat, we all sat, my f-i-l in the row behind us. I hear "where's Billy" and he's NOT THERE! We didnt see him anywhere. DH yelled to the staff member not to start the ride because our son was still on the line somewhere, but they didnt hear him, and even though he was STANDING, they started the ride. He started screaming and the people on line screamed back they found him and staff would hold him. My m-i-l was not on the ride, so we texted her and she picked him up. The boats just float on that ride, so they couldnt stop it once they started.
AND, we lost our good Chicco stroller :(. Somehow, we forgot to put it in the car one night and just drove away. Made a claim with Lost and Found, but it never turned up. We went to the lot super early the next morning, and it was not there. So someone saw it and took it. Freakin dirtbags. Who DOES that? We had to go to BRU and buy a new stroller. Thank god there was nothing in the stroller!
It was a good trip - not our best though. And it was COLD. We usually have a few cold days while we're there, but it was in the low 50's the last few days.....brrrr. The nights were in the high 30's and WINDY. We decided to go back for 5 nights in June - ALONE - just us and the kids. I cant wait -we havent taken a vacation alone in forever!
If you got this far, sorry for my rambling, and here is a link to the photobook I made with our pictures. I did it really quick so I could take advantage of some offers I have that expire today! Disney 2010 Photobook

Great pictures! It's too bad you had a couple of hiccups on the trip, but it sounds like a success overall. I don't know if you've eaten there, but I reccomend Fulton's Crab House in Downtown Disney next time you're looking for a "nicer" meal.

Did you get anything for all the problems you had?? I would have been super po'd about the door being open so many times. You are lucky no one went in and stole anything.
I can't imagine going with so many people. When we went in September we met up with family and in total there were 8 of us and I thought that was insane.
I'm sure your trip in June will be a much better experience!

We just got back on Monday! The weather was weird! We arrived on Thursday and that day & Friday were typical December Disney weather. Saturday I bought a bathing suit to take Ann in the pool, Sunday it RAINED on us at Epcot and Monday when we left was soooooooooo windy!! ACK!
I've gotta take a look at your pictures!

Yes we got a decent amount back. I NEVER complain, but we had some expensive things in our room - video camera, laptops, etc.

I started it two days ago. I design all the pages myself. Shutterfly does not have disney pages, but I found a digital scrapbook designer that has all disney-ish things. Brittish Designs

Re: Our Disney Trip - Review and Pics (LONG!)
Im so glad to hear that they updated the Playhouse Disney characters. When I went last year, it was some clown named Jo Jo, and some lion. Im like, "my son watches a lot of tv, and we have no clue who you are." He is obsessed with Little Einsteins, so we might have to make our way over there again.

So how does this work? How do you get the digital scrapbook to the Shutterfly account? Do you design it all through Brittishdesign than upload it to Shutterfly? I never tried anything like this so I have no idea how it works. Obviously...

The brittish design page is just where you get the different elements to add to your pages (paper, borders, "stickers")
I start a new 12x12 project in Photoshop and add my pics and elements and design the page how ever I want, then save it as a .jpg. When you go to shutterfly and start a photobook, you select "Print my digital scrapbook" from the theme menu. Basically, it allows you to upload a full page image, which is how I save the page and voila! I usually spend alot more time on my books and rushed thru this one. Normally, all my pages are themed and more scrappy looking - I did alot of pages this time with just a bunch of pictures....

Thanks everyone! I use the Nikon D700, but I also used the Nikon Coolpix P&S for alot of these as well. Its not fun lugging a huge camera thru Disney with three kids and I get worried about forgetting it somewhere.

Re: Our Disney Trip - Review and Pics (LONG!)
On our Disney trip last summer we did the same thing carried around two cameras, but it's well worth it. Curious...Do you use your camera on the manual setting? or ever use an external flash?
