Re: Our garage sale s*&cked today

Maybe you just needed a little more advertising?
I had one last year and it was great - my best friend listed it for free on www.garagesale.com and I guess all the real garage sale junkies check that site.

People were lining up before 7 am to get a look at our stuff!!!!

Sorry it didn't go so well Chat Icon

Re: Our garage sale s*&cked today

I had a garage sale a while ago - so not worth the effort in the end. No matter how cheap you made it, people wanted half that price.

I have had much better luck selling things on craigslist.com

Re: Our garage sale s*&cked today

wrong neighborhood??

You must live on long island.

I did a yard sale at my gf's house and it went well but not as well as they do in my neighborhood now.

I live in Queens (Ozone Park) and last year since I knew either A) I was having another baby or B) I was buying a house (now I'm doing both) so I had a few yard sales in my neighborhood. Had to get rid of a lot of stuff you know. Chat Icon Anyhow, I did really well and I think it's b/c the neighborhood tends to be poor. My neighborhood tends to be Section 8, people who are poorer middle lower class, below poverty level and the such.

Anyhow the yard sale I made the most money at was when we did a multi family yard sale. About 5 different families and that had the most people show up as well. I think you should try that. Draws more people to stop b/c it'll be worth their effort.

Also, I have never had one yard sale that "wasn't worth my effort". But I advertise and set-up well.

Re: Our garage sale s*&cked today

Definately do Craigslist- my SIL just sold all her old furniture and made a ton. The stuff was 10 years old and it went right away.
