Our pups are going to be neutered a week from Tues
I know it is a must but I am sad that they are having surgery

I feel your pain!!!! Rocky was neutered the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and it was heartwrenching.
I dropped him off in the morning. My whole family went to pick him up in the evening. He was really groggy but started whimpering with happinness to see us. We brought his bed and plopped him on there and drove home with him on his bed. That night he was in pain and it killed us, so we spoiled him and bought him toys from Petco and gave him some treats.If we had to go to another room, we'd carry the bed with him on it. He was treated like a king that night!!!!!!
The next day, he was like nothing happened to him. Running, jumping (even though he shouldn't be doing this right after surgery), playing, and hiding my shoes around the house.
So, don't worry. At most it's only 1 night that you'll feel bad. The next day they won't even remember.

The day we brought Brodie to the vet to get neutered was the first day I saw DH cry openly.
We were both so upset, but he was fine by the next day.
