Our trip to spain review!
we just got back from our trip to spain
we went to Barcelona first which was very cool
We stayed at the Barcelona de Cuitat hotel which is in the El Riberia area.
We ate at Taller Tappas (thanks mrs porkchop for the recommendation)
Then Tappas Tappas which was in a different area.
All the Gaudi stuff was great -- we really loved Casa de Bottlo, and Parc Guell
Drank lots of Sangria and just people watched which was alot of fun. I have a great picture that i'll post soon -- a totally naked 70yr old man walking down the passaig de gracia with a tatooed speedo on the back of his butt and on the front he had tatooed two eyes on either side of a VERY LONG nose that had a ring in it ...use your imagination !!
I was a little dissapointed b/c everyone said the people were so nice, but I was surprised that most weren't all that friendly to us. I did find that if you aren't speaking cantalan, they would rather speak english to you than spanish. When I tried to speak spanish to waiters and others, they answered me in in english
but all and all it was great - we took the subways and buses around barcelona - it was so easy and clean! And I haven't been to Europe in 10 yrs...I didn't realize how green they are compared to the US - I mean you can't put on the lights in the hotel unless you use your key card , or use the air condition unless the balcony door is closed. Its a good thing
Then we went to Marbella which was alot of fun...and took day trips to Granda, Ronda and Gibraltar -- all great. The drive down the coast was nice ...Salobrena looked beautiful. Driving back from Granada we drove through the Sierra Nevada Mountains which was very picturesque.
I would love to go back to Spain and do Madrid, Toledo and Sevilla next!

Spain is a dream vacation for me. One day I will get there. Can't wait to see pictures.

Yeah the Catalans are kind of like that...! Very nationalistic...and their nation is Catalunya.
Glad you had a great trip. Can't wait to see your pics.

yeah, they are VERY fond of saying they are not "Spanish" and YOU are not in Spain, you are in "Catalunya" LOL
I LOVED Barca.  wouldn't mind strolling down Las Ramblas right now..........
