i'm never a fan of pants at a NY wedding...although my wedding was last November and i had a couple female guests in pants.

Same here. Although, i have seen it a couple of time and some were actually beautiful outfits, i still wouldn't do it.
Also, I've actually been colder at summer weddings than fall/winter ones, because they tend to blast the AC in the summer. Its generally warmer inside, and if you get chilly- just Dance

My mom wore a dressy pants outfit at MY wedding. The pants were very flowy, it allmost looked like a skirt. She didnt want to get "a gown" (as she put it).
Ive seen several women wear nice, dressy pants to weddings, on LI.
I, personally, like wearing dresses but
if you want to go with dressy pants, I think its fine.

I think nice pants with a pair of really gorgeous shoes and pretty (sparkly?) top would look wonderful. A few people wore really nice pant outfits to my wedding in NYC and they looked great. Wear what you want.
