Ovaries that are hard to see, low sperm count- need advice
Posting for a friend who needs help. Thanks in advance!:
I'm a 41 year old female going through some fertility issues. I have a 14 year old and a 9 year old from a previous marriage. Both of my children were conceived without any difficulty, but they did weigh on or about ten lbs. at birth. Their weight was not due to gestational diabetes, they were just big babies. Ive been to two separate infertility specialists besides my regular ob gyn and according to them, my vaginal canal is long and narrow, my cervix is difficult to find and my ovaries are difficult to see via ultrasound. My uterus is also tilted to the right and my right ovary likes to hide behind it. I remarried in 2011 and my husband has no children and a low sperm count. To this date, i have done 5 rounds of clomid and a total of 7 inseminations with and without injectables. My first specialist told me that the difficulty in seeing my ovaries was due to my weight. I lost 30lbs since this past March but he just continued doing insemination after insemination and postponing IVF saying that i needed to lose more weight before he could proceed. I decided to get a second opinion and this doctor told me after examining me, that even though weight is a factor, the difficulty in finding my ovaries was probably due to the scarring from my previous pregnancies. After one insemination, this specialist told me today, that he will not proceed with IVF because he cannnot see my ovaries. That said and the crying out of the way, i will continue my weight loss hoping it will help, but i would also love some advice from others that are experiencing similar issues as well. Thank you.
