Overly broad daycare medical authorization- am I being ridiculous?
Ds is starting a 2 Y/o "class" that actually takes place in a daycare. It's a few hours twice a week. I'm filling out the paperwork and the medical authorization is bugging me for two reasons (both due to broadness). One, it says they have authority to seek medical care, but it never says it's limited to daycare hours/while in their care. Seems obvious though, duh right? but it bugs me to sign something. The other, bothers me more- it says they have the right to give the doctors permission for emergency treatments etc. BUT says nothing like "in the event parents and emergency contacts are unreachable in time". Am I being ridiculous? Like, god forbid something happened I'm sure the doctor's emergency treatment would be in line with my wishes and the center's permission. I just hate signing something so vague. DH says just sign it and don't be a huge pita to them from day one, lol.

If you're crazy, so am I. I felt the same way.

Just write in the parts you feel are missing before signing and tell them. I wouldn't think that it should be a problem. Your child- you must feel comfortable. I believe in getting things in writing-clearly stated.

What did you end up doing? Writing stuff in? I don't want to seem so annoying since it'll 99.9999999% be a non-issue in actual practice, but it sure is bugging me.

This is what I would do. And I don't think you're being ridiculous. I would feel the same way.

i don't think you're being ridiculous at all. i like the PP suggestion to write in what you're comfortable with. i would let them know what you added when you hand it back in.
