Overwhelmed at RSofNY
Hi all- I recently got referred to RSofNY by my OB-GYN after I told her we have been TTC for over a year. I am seeing Dr. Linda Sung at their practice. She first dx me for PCOS but after all my blood work came back she said that wasn't the case but still put me on Metformin. Once DH's SA results came back turned out he had low motility. However, her treatment is not what overwhelms me.. it is the lack of information that is available. Most nurses and people at the front desk look at you like either you should know that.. or how dare you ask that question.
Everytime I got in I get a shock at the amt I get charged. She has recommended IUI and I've already been there three times and still not ovulating.. plus its over $500 each time. Anyone got IUI there can let me know what the total runs up to.. My insurance does not cover anything other than a consult. I'm still very unclear on what each cycle will cost me. Anyone who has been there/ is going can provide any feedback on their experience will be awesome!

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
All I can say is I went there starting in July , I had 6 IUIS over 5 months, all failed. They never gave me a clear answer. And a dr there the other day responded to my question with " Well I dont have crystal ball". I left, went to another RE and Im so much happier that next month I will be starting a cycle with them, and they answered my questions till I understood. I would seek a consult elsewhere. There are more then a few of us on here who left RSONY for the reasons you described.
GOOD LUCK and BABY DUST!

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
I think if we looked over the posts on this board, the one thing most of us who have dealt with RSofNy would agree with, is that clinic is NOT RUN WELL.
If you are paying out of pocket, I would definitely look into going to another clinic. I have some to recommend. FM if you would like.

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
IMO I would go to another clinic. There are many of us on the board that left there. I started out at RS of NY in July but have moved on. I have had different consultations and not one dr has agreed with RSofNY's course of treatment for me. They wanted IUIs with clomid, then IUIs with injectibles. I have high FSH and really only IVF is a viable option for me.
Good luck! Baby dust!
In this IF world, you should make sure you are at a clinic that treats you well, responds timely to your questions/call and you are working with a dr that is interested in you, not just the textbook protocol

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
Dopey question.. since I am so new to all of this and all you guys have been so helpful.
If I go to another clinic, will they run through all the tests again.. HSG, DH's SA, prolactin.. etc? Or can they transfer records?
My insurance *****.. so none of this was fully covered.

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
I have to agree with the above posters. I used the Stonybrook office and I really liked all the nurses and NPs. However, I felt that some of the doctors saw me as a number because they would constantly introduce themselves to me again and again. Plus, I was really unhappy with the wait times. I thought that they could be ridiculously long.

\ Nope- you just ask for your records from your current clinics. They will only rerun tests again if you need them.

Re: Overwhelmed at RSofNY
I went to the Stony Brook office of RSofNY. Before I had insurance I had 2 IUI's out of pocket. Each cycle (sono's, IUI, blood work) ran me about $4,000 (I think). I took a break for 2 months until I had insurance to cover it and I got my BFP on my 3rd IUI.
