Ok, not that I have any experience with this matter whatsoever , but aren't you supposed to slit your wrists in the direction of the veins...lengthwise????
Could this be photoshopped?
Or perhaps why he wasn't successful in his attempt?

I guess you could slice your wrists any which way. I think the picture is probably real given the whole situation. I just feel so bad for him. He looks so depressed.

you can cut you wrist anyway you want. Anyway can be successful if the cut is big enough and that loks like it was.
The reason people "think" you should cut vertically is so that when you pass out form blood loss you dont actually stop the bleeding accidentally because you bent your wrist.
