Padma Lakshmi
If you really want to understand Padma Lakshmi, stop staring at her for a moment and start thinking about bacon. Not Canadian bacon (“best left to the Canadians,” she says), not Italian pancetta (an okay substitute, “but only if it’s slowly cooked to minuscule morsels of salty crunchiness”), but good old American bacon—crisp, fatty strips of cured pork. It’s her favorite food.
Okay, I know what you’re thinking: That’s what all runway models turned actresses turned tabloid wives turned cookbook authors turned hosts of Bravo’s surprise reality hit Top Chef tell reporters to make them think they’re really just one of the guys. Except that Lakshmi’s legit.
“She can eat,” says her Top Chef colleague Tom Colicchio, the celebrated New York City restaurateur. “I’ve been out with her. And she doesn’t order a salad—she’s adventurous. She actually can cook pretty well, too.”
Not that you’d know it from reading about her. Lakshmi spends much of her time with journalists, trying to get them to write about something other than that she’s married to author Salman Rushdie. (For the record, she does the cooking; he buys the wine.) She also writes cookbooks. Good ones. Her second, Tangy Tart Hot & Sweet, is due out next month.
Until then, you can picture her nude, bathed in chocolate, which is what she wanted to do for this photo shoot. (We tried; things got messy.) Or you can just turn on Bravo and catch her on Top Chef, most likely wearing a not exactly kitchen-sensible slinky spaghetti-strap dress and stilettos. Don’t expect an apology. “People always comment about my clothes,” says Lakshmi. “They don’t think a fashionable woman can love food and be knowledgeable and actually cook, and it’s complete ********. On the show, all I have to do is think, talk, and eat, and I think I’m dressed to do all those things.”

can she please objectify herself more. lame.
i guess i'm alone here...i don't know. she's gorgeous, yes. i just don't think all the food all over her body is something we need here. i dunno. it makes it look silly to me.

Some of those photos are hot! It's funny, I have SO noticed this (how she can seriously eat) on Top Chef & also when she was on The View. I like her

She said when she was on the View that she was in a very bad car crash with her parents and she hasn't had the scar removed as it represents something (can't remember what) to her from that. I think her mom survived not sure about her dad. And she said she likes to wear clothes that show the scar as it's a badge of honor or something like that.

She's beautiful and thin. There's no way that she can eat like a normal human at remain that thin..eventually it will catch up to her.
I bet she's dying for a cheeseburger.

she's not american. most countries don't look at food like we do.
she probably eats what she likes.
doesn't mean she eats uncontrollably.
and the restaurants she's going to with Tom Colicchio are nice restaurants with portion control...not McDonalds or Bob's Big Boy.
