Pain after blood draw???

I had my Glucose Screen today and when the tech changed the tubes to get more blood it felt like she stabbed me in the arm.



It's been almost two hours and it hurts to straighten it still. It's definitely black and blue.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Did she just blow the vein? Or should I call the doctor?

The tech who took my blood for the AFP did a number on me- I didn't bruise but it really hurt for several hours afterwards. But my veins are the worst- I've been in the ER often with my asthma, and have had lots of blood taken, and I'd often bruise, in part because my veins are hard to find.

If calling the doctor would put your mind at ease, I'd definitely do it.

was it from Quest? they use the biggest guage needles b/c they are such a factory. I bled through the cotton and my shirt when I went there - they butchered me!

Next time ask for a smaller needle
