Paint Color vs Floor
Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to wall paint colors vs. floor color? Should the wall be lighter or darker or does it matter?

Re: Paint Color vs Floor
I don't think there is a rule to that but some of the LIF decorating gurus might know better. For me its important that tones are the same, all warm or all cool. To my eye that's the most important thing, accents can be a contrasting tone but not the main elements of the room.

Re: Paint Color vs Floor
i am confused. are you referring to wood floors, tile or rugs? i don't think there is a set "rule", just personal preference.
i have wood floors throughout my home. area rugs are in each room and the wall colors were pulled from a color in the area rug. same should apply for tile.
in re: to w2w carpeting, i think wall color should contrast. meaning, dark colored carpeting with lighter colored walls., light colored carpeting with darker colored walls.
but again, personal preference.
