Painting a teeny tiny bedroom NOW with smaller picture
we have a big apartment, but a small bedroom.
we will be here for another short while, but I wanted to fix it up a bit...to at least have one part of the place that looks the way we want it to.
to set the mood, I bought this print of one of dh's favorite paintings for our anniversary.
I want to paint the walls and kind of "decorate" with this as my focal point.
the room is tiny, so I don't want to go crazy. Is there a color other than white than you think would set the painting off, but still look good in a small room?
It's not very feminine or even relaxing(though I hope all the "whaaming" will be inspirational ...and when we get our new place we'll move it to another area, but for now, it's going in our room.
any thoughts are appreciated

umm, well, I think doing grey walls with those pics would work, but those are quite loud pics for a lovers retreat, you know.

I think a grey would be pretty...but if you're daring I'd go for a charcoal/black. (I don't buy the old philosophy that dark colors make a room smaller.)
Or 3 walls with grey and paint the wall with the print charcoal/black.

I love you. And you KNOW I love pop art- what about painting a red stripe around the room somewhere?
Maybe on a gray wall?

It would looke good on a white wall...go for the classic gallery look and hang a picture light to spotlight it. Then you could paint the rest of the walls a pale grey.
If you really want to make the yellow pop go w/ a purpleish grey (BM wet cement is one). To make the red pop go with a greenish grey. They are the complimentary colors.

Re: Painting a teeny tiny bedroom NOW with smaller picture
I would probably paint the wall that hte print is going on the BRIGHT RED. Then I would paint the other three walls a shade-lighter grey than the one in picture.
I would also probably get red curtains (as long as the windows aren't on the red wall) to further coordinate (unless it is looking too bright - then I would go white to help tone down).

Re: Painting a teeny tiny bedroom NOW with smaller picture
I thought you were joking at first...I would paint one wall like a soft lilac color and smack this painting right in the middle since it does appear to have like a grayish/lilacish background.

I think you should go with a softer and lighter color since its a small bedroom...a loud color (although red would be cool) will make the bedroom seem even smaller. In any event, take pics once you're done
