Painting vinyl siding
So our siding is old and stained. I dont think residing is in our budget right now. I was thinking about having it painted. Has anyone ever done this or know someone who has? Thanks!

Ive never done it but know it can be done. If you do it I would hire a very reputable place that can show you previous work.

It's different paint, and techniques for painting vinyl siding. Vinyl shrinks and expands in varying temperatures. That's why you "hang" vinyl, and don't actually nail it to the wall. It needs plenty of room to flex. Regular paint would come off the first day that the temp was hotter or colder than when it was painted.
I've never painted vinyl, and it's not something I would want to play around with on my house. Definitely need to see houses that have survived a winter and summer, to see how they managed through temp extremes.

I know it can be done. But find someone who does that as its a special paint. My mom's neighbors did it about 3 years ago, maybe more. It still looks like the day they did it!

In the past you were never able to paint vinyl siding. These days you can. There is a product made by Benjamin more called REVIVE for vinyl siding that is a great product. It is a self priming - 2 coat finish product. I have used it a bunch of times in the past.

Great post - something I've thought about once we move...not happy with the house's color especially being I just completely redid aka $$$ my current home that we're now selling.
