Panoramic Testing Question...
I had the panoramic bloodwork done at 9w. So the Dr's office knows the sex of the baby. How accurate is this? Has someone been told girl and it turned out to be boy? Just curious. TIA

I had the same test and every ultrasound I've had has backed up the gender. From what I'm told, it's very accurate.

Panoramic Testing Question...
It's very accurate but not perfect. When we went for anatomy scan I was joking with the tech and said is it still a girl. He said that three times the bloodwork came back wrong and he saw it in the scan. Backed it up with an amnio.

9 weeks is pretty early for the panoramic testing. It can be done as early as 9 weeks but the errors with gender determination were found in those earlier tests. The maternal fetal medicine office I work for holds out until 11 weeks but prefers 12 weeks to do the testing. I'm sure they will confirm at your anatomy scan.

Ok interesting....I was actually two days shy of 10 weeks. Not sure if that matters. My office never mentioned waiting until 11-12 weeks.

My dr had me wait until at least 11 weeks to make sure they could collect enough dna.

Exactly. That's where the errors are if you test too soon and not enough is collected.

From everything I read you can be told girl and have the baby be a boy but not the other way around because either the y chromosome is there or it isn't. I had mine done at nearly 11 weeks and the gender was correct.

That's what I've read and been told by the doctors and nurses. I was told boy and I have a son.

That's what I've read and been told by the doctors and nurses. I was told boy and I have a son.
Nope, I have a friend who was told boy and found out girl at the anatomy scan. And went on to have a girl. You can be told boy and it be a girl if you've recently miscarried., and the child you miscarried was a boy. Because the ay chromosome can be left behind in your blood stream.
If you haven't miscarried recently then it's pretty accurate, but the later the test the more accurate. I had mine at 15 weeks. I based my gender reveal off it, and bought some clothes, but I didn't start painting the room pink until I saw her anatomy.
But the blood test at any point is supposed to be more accurate then sonos. If you get same gender on both your pretty safe, though even after my Sono confirmed it I continued to have nightmares DD came out DS because my nursery is SUPER girly and I have a ridiculous amount of frilly girly clothes. When DD was born the first thing I said to the nurse is it's a girl right?
