ARGH! Luna has been sick with Giardia for a month. A MONTH! She was diagnosed with it on June 2 and put on 250 mg of Metronidazole for a week and put on a bland diet. She still had diarrhea, so back to the vet. They upped the dose to 500 mg of Metronidazole for another 7 days.

Again, STILL had a mess on our hands, so I brought her in for another exam on Monday. They ran another fecal, and yes, she STILL has Giardia. NOW, she's been on Fenbendazole and her diarrhea has gotten WORSE!

She crapped in her crate yesterday and was up every two hours last night crying to go out. The poor dog! The gas is horrendous, the sounds coming out of her are remarkable (she is her father's daughter). She's acting fine- very playful- and she loves her bland diet.

All the research I've done online makes it sound like we may never get rid of this! Our backyard is just disgusting- with the diarrhea, it's impossible to clean up the mess.

Our whole routine has had to change- she's not getting her daily walk on this great wooded trail I take her to (I can't clean up diarrhea), absolutely no dog park (highly contageous- I wouldn't want to cause anyone else to have to deal with this), and she's now confined to the kitchen.

Any of the dog experts on here have any idea if there's a chance I'm gonna get my nice life I used to have with my pup back? Shouldn't the Fenbendazole have started to work by now (she had her 3rd dose of a 5 day treatment last night)

I'll be calling the vet as soon as they open.
