Parent-Child Education classes
I just registered for a prepared childbirth class at South Nassau, and was wondering if I should also register for a baby care class. This is my first, so I do need to learn how to handle a new born, but we do have a lot of family and friends with babies who could help. Has anyone taken a baby care class, and would you recommend it?
Also, I registered for a preparation for breast feeding class and the woman told me to bring DH. When I told him he laughed at me because he's not breast feeding. Should I really drag him to this class?

Re: Parent-Child Education classes
i gave birth at south nassau and they teach you everything--breast feeding, child care, etc when you give birth. the lactation consultants were wonderful and not pushy at all. they come any time you need them. the nurses were wonderful as well and will teach you anything you need to know--bath, feeding, care, etc.
so take a class if you want, but you will be well prepared at south nassau when you give birth!
for the record, i didn't take any classes--just did the hospital tour which i highly recommend.

Re: Parent-Child Education classes
The child birth class I took at South Nassau last year covered baby care during their last session. If you're taking the longer version (five sessions I think?), check to see if they cover baby care as well. It's the weekend version of the child birth class that didn't cover baby care if I recall.
