Parent-teacher conferences

My twins are 4 in CPSE. We are having parent teacher conferences soon. Their school does it like a group interview, the parents on one side and the teacher and the therapists and maybe an asst on the other side of the table. So everyone is on the same page. They are in a new school and this is my first experience there.

Their school only has meetings during the day so I took the first appointment and now have to go into work 2 days late (different classes). Annoying they don't have night appts, but I digress.

The meeting is only 15-20 minutes. They are booked solid thoughout the day. I feel like it is so much to squeeze in with the therapists there too. I guess I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Any advice? Just pick one thing to focus on? I have a million questions, but guess I should just focus mainly on what are their thoughts about kindergarten placement for next year?

20 minutes is not enough time for a true conference. They are most likely modeling it after elmentary school conferences which are the same time frame. Normally they would just go over academic progress and touch on any areas that need to be monitored. Personally I really don't ask too many questions during this meeting as there is no time.

You are able to call a "team" meeting at any time which would be at least an hour to gather all the teachers and therapists together to discuss your child's progress and any concerns you may have. I have a team meeting every month since DD was in K.

Unfortunately, most of these meetings are going to be during the day as they do not want to pay the therapists to come afterhours.

Ok. thanks so much. This is very helpful. I won't really ask any questions as I really want to hear what they have to say. I will bring up that I would like to schedule a team meeting where we can discuss progress more in depth.

Can you teleconference in? For only 15-20 minutes, it's a lot of time to take from work, depending on the timing of the meeting.

I agree with above. I was given the option to have a teleconference since the call would be 20-30 minutes.
