Re: Parenting Related - I need a great Macaroni and Cheese recipe
I have a really good one, but it might be expensive to make with the type of cheese it calls for. Let me know if you still want it.

I absolutely do........I will post it. I got my recipe from the Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives cookbook but tweaked it a bit. It's absolutely outrageous............a huge hit every time I make it. People request it now!!!

Re: Parenting Related - I need a great Macaroni and Cheese recipe
Three Cheese Mac n Cheese
1 tbs. salt plus more for pasta water 1 lb. Barilla Pipettes 6 tbs. (3/4 stick) unsalted butter 6 tbs. all purpose flour 3 cups of cold whole milk 1 cup heavy cream 1 lb. New York Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded 4 ounces American cheese, shredded 4 ounces Asiago cheese, shredded 1 tbs. black pepper 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs parsley
1) Preheat the oven to 325.
2) Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta until it's al dente. (Don't overcook it or you will have mushy mac n cheese.)
3) Melt the butter over a medium heat. Sprinkle the flour over the melted butter and whisk to make a paste (or roux), about 2 min. Add the milk and whisk vigorously until smooth. Reduce heat to medium low and cool until the sauce is thick and bubbly. Add the heavy cream, all three cheeses, and 1 tbs. salt and 1 tbs. black pepper. Cook and stir frequently until all of the cheese is melted and the sauce is nice and smooth.
4) Add the macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix thoroughly. Transfer to a 9X13" baking dish and top with the panko breadcrumbs. Sprinkle a little parsley over the top for garnish. Bake until the mac n cheese is hot and the top is slightly browned. (About 15-20 min.)
5) Let the mac n cheese sit about 10-15 min. so it sets a little before serving.
6) Enjoy!!.........it's outrageous!!!

Re: Parenting Related - I need a great Macaroni and Cheese recipe
I love this one....definitely not good for you but soooooo delicious!!
Ingredients
* 1 package macaroni elbows * 4 tablespoons butter * 4 tablespoons flour * 1 cup milk * 1 cup cream * 1/2 teaspoon salt * fresh ground black pepper, to taste * 2 cups good quality shredded cheddar cheese * 1/2 cup buttered breadcrumbs
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. 2. Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions; set aside. 3. In a large saucepan melt butter. 4. Add flour mixed with salt and pepper, using a whisk to stir until well blended. 5.Pour milk and cream in gradually; stirring constantly. 6. Bring to boiling point and boil 2 minutes (stirring constantly). 7. Reduce heat and cook (stirring constantly) 10 minutes. 8. Add shredded cheddar little by little and simmer an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese melts. 9.Turn off flame. 10. Add macaroni to the saucepan and toss to coat with the cheese sauce. 11.Transfer macaroni to a buttered baking dish. 12. sprinkle with breadcrumbs. 13. Bake 20 minutes until the top is golden brown. (You can also freeze this recipe in zip-lock bags for later use - once you have mixed the macaroni along with the cheese sauce allow to cool to room temperature before adding to your freezer - I generally pull it out the night before and allow macaroni and cheese to reach room temperature; I then add the macaroni and cheese to a buttered baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs and then bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until golden brown on top and bubbling.)

Re: Parenting Related - I need a great Macaroni and Cheese recipe
I'd love to try out some of these recipes. I had a great recipe. I don't know where it is. It is expensive b/c of the cheeses it used. But what really made it awesome was the topping. Once I used crumbled anisette cookies mixed with butter, and another time I used crumbled ritz crackers mixed with butter.
