Parents Class for a Christening ?
I just called the church and was told that we would have to take a parents class before they would I could have my son christened. And it is from 7:30 to 9:00pm... I cant leave him... How do they expect me to do this...
Did anyone else have to take a class?

My parents watched DC but there were parents at the meeting with their little ones.

We had a babysitter, but was told that we could bring them if needed. It really isn't bad at all, we only had to do it once and they showed a cheesy baptism from the 70's....

Re: Parents Class for a Christening ?
We also had to take a class (same time - maybe same church?) and we were left the kids at home w/ a sitter. A few couples there brought their kids even though they said not to. Really though, what are you supposed to do, i think its unreasonable for them to expect you not to bring them.
i didnt get too much out of the class and the video was really cheezy.

We had to do it too. It's wasn't too bad, they just went over meaning of baptism, godparents. etc. then we went into the church and we practiced exactly what would happen on that day.
I was pg at the time, but there were other babies there.
We only had to take the class for a 1st time baptism.

Re: Parents Class for a Christening ?
my church sent me a letter regarding this too. I may bring DD to the class, its at night and I dont know if I can get a sitter. Oh well, and the letter states strongly how they would really rather not have any children- how can they ask that!

Re: Parents Class for a Christening ?
I went alone. DH stayed home. I was the only one alone but needed DH to watch DS and they said this was fine. It's so boring.
