Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
Is it wrong that my community actually has a beer and wine "pitstop" for the parents?
We even had "pre-departure" drinks before setting off on our excursion last night.
Maybe it's because I live in a community that has little traffic, but I really didn't think having a few drinks with neighbors while ToTing was such a bad thing.

We had that too. A few houses had food, snacks, pizza for the kids and wine/beer. It was nice.

Wow people need to lighten up! Live a little! Stop being so uptight. Worry about yourselves and your own kids versus what others are doing.

Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
I thought this was a normal activity
Needless to say we had beers in our kids wagon, we had a large group of people and the guys mostly had a few beers, and I see nothing at all wrong with it and take offense to a lot of the comments on here but expected them none the less.

Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
I would never do it but that is because I really dont drink. I don't drink anything when Trick or Treating actually
I don't see the big deal but I also don't see why it can't just wait until you get home or something. But to each is own.
I saw more people smoking and pushing strollers yesterday and that to me is a lot worse. JMO.

Wow...way to pass judgement. Where they trying to bring your children over to the darkside by making them have a sip? What is the big deal...I have a beer almost every night I take DD for a walk, including while trick or treating. I was not smashed, I had a pumpkin ale which I quite enjoyed. I suppose you wouldnt be the type I would hang out with so you stay on your side and Ill stay on mine. We are ADULT PARENTS who can choose to have a beer after a long day, or maybe just bc we like the taste. Nobody needs to explain it to you.
Whoah harsh. I was not saying the parents were loaded or that they weren't taking care of their kids. i had just never seen this or heard of this before and it totally shocked me. guess it's not as strange as i thought it was since so many people seem to do it. I never mentioned anything about having a beer after a long day. I do this as well. We don't have to hang out don't worry, I'll stay on my side.
I dont think there was a reason to attack the OP the way you did. She asked a question and stated her opinion. If you want to drink every night, that's great, but dont flame her b/c she wouldn't
whos flaming her because shes not drinking? I could care less what other parents do with their children and friends, but when you are that I decide to have a drink... and in lesser words label me a bad mother for doing so...then I get snippy. I hate people that judge (what this whole post is about) so you can look down on me all you want but understand Im not passing judgement back. No attack, just a defense. As stated before...arent there more important things to be concerned about

Maybe I'm a dud but I've never even seen this never mind even having this idea cross my mind. I would def be taken aback had I seen it too. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I guess I am a dud too- it would never occur to me. It's an activity for kids. I have never seen parents drink at birthday parties for kids (and maybe this is unusual too?) and to me it's sort of the same principle. But then in general DH and I seldom drink around our DD.
Dud x's 3 overy here b/c definetely not something I ever saw or would do myself! I even asked DH who is generally pretty liberal with these things and he said he wouldnt do it either.
ETA: DH just asked a good question, if you drink (even if it's only 1 beer) while taking your kids trick-or-treating, do you also drink at your little kids soccer games or t-ball games or other activities? Not flaming anyone, just curious.
Count me in on the Dud group

Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
I've seen it and personally would never do it. But I don't knock others. Other people can do what they like until effects my child. Honestly Halloween is one of the biggest nights for DWI and DUI's!!! Last night the police scanner was going off like crazy!!!!

This poster NEVER called YOU out on drinking last nite. No need to take it personally. Obviously, some say its okay some say it isnt. To each their own. Never did she call YOU a bad mom. You are using her post as a personal attack...no need to go there.

Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
Would I drink while trick or treating with my kids..NO. It would ruin the fun for them because when I drink, the last thing I want to do is walk I would be the parent holding a red solo cup sitting in a big red wagon being pulled around the neighborhood
IMO, and again this is only MY opinion. Some people become parents and they look too much into what other parents do, especially "moms". It's okay for someone to think drinking while trick or treating with the kids is odd.
