I had one too while out with the kids and a bunch of adults - we didn't get trashed - just had a beer:)
Ditto to this. We went to a friends house and there were a bunch of us TOT and the street was like Mardi Gras and everyone was having a blast but no one was trashed we had a beer or 2 and that was it. JMO but I didn't think it was a big deal.

It is completely common here in OH. Its kinda like our own Mardi Gras! I see no issue with it as long as parents are being responsible. Pulling a wagon with beer instead of kids is a pretty familiar site here.
Judge away for those that choose to, but lighten up is all I say!

I saw the same thing last year and thought it was digusting because one father was loud and visably VERY drunk.
This is TOT for KIDS. You can't control yourself for an hour NOT to drink until you get home?
Isn't it also illegal to drink in the street?

I have to say...I'm surprised at how common this is.
I never saw it growing up or when I took my DD TOT'ing when she was younger. I didn't notice any parents drinking yesterday, but I also wasn't looking for it. I will next year though just out of curiosity.
Now I'm curious to know if any of my friends do it.
NOT to judge them....just being nosey.
I don't get why you would.
That doesn't mean I think anyone is a bad parent...it's just an opinion.
Somehow having an opinion = judging on LIF. Not sure why that is

this is a funny but pretty typical thread..lif is a hoot
Anyway, im totally a LUSH when not pregnant..but i dont drink around my children, unless we're at a party or event, and even then if i have ONE glass of wine, that would be it..and like i said, im a lush lol
Its personally not my thing, and im surprised with the group i hang out with that none of them either would even think of drinking while TOTing...
To change the path of this thread alil..what do you think about when parents drink at little league/football/soccer games etc??
Ive seen this happen ALOT in my town..hence why i hate it here

ok people , i'm the OP and so I just want to sum up my side because this is getting so out of hand. I really did not intend to attack anyone. I'm not saying people are bad parents for drinking while trick or treating. I honestly was just really shocked by it because I never thought to do it. I'm not really uptight (not that I need to defend myself to anyone). I'm having my second beer of the evening and drink wine very regularly with DD at home. I just truly was surprised that this is a common practice. I would never had thought of it. To each his own. I'm sorry if my original post offended people, I didn't think it would cause so much controversy because I thought most people would be as shocked as me, but I was wrong...so I apologize. I don't normally create such drama on here. Other posters are right, there are bigger things to worry about in life! I know all of us here love our children to no end and are wonderful parents :)

Brad's outfit is much more disturbing than the fact that he might be drinking.
this thread is cracking me up. People actually feel the need to say how much they drink, just not while TOTing. Only on LIF.

A few years ago we were in Oakdale/Sayville area with friends & they did this. This year when we joined the same friend but their kids have grown out of the Trick or Treating phase, but when we went for a walk we saw the new batch of parents out walking with coolers in wagons.

My Dh's uncle made this hayride out of his trailer... took all the adults and kids around the neighborhpood ToTing.. we all had beer, wine som even had a coctail. Not one kid was lost, hurt, harmed at all. Everyone had a great time... then went back for a big get together.....It was fun!
There was even a local SC police officer who drove past and said have a good time!!
No harm when you arent acting like barbarians... its a drink!
To each is own! Like PP Live and let live!!

I never even heard of drinking while TOT before. Never even thought about it. Maybe because i live in the city- but it never even occurred to me. We TOT in our buildings and went to a big street fair where the neighbors gave out candy and had shows- it was great. But even there, I didn't see any parents drinking.
Maybe because I am now a lightweight, but I wouldn't trick or treat with my 3 year old while drinking. One glass of wine and I feel something. I would be too scared that my reflexes would be too slow in case DD darted out or something.

The thought to do something like that while trick or treating has never crossed my mind. Personally I think, why can't you just enjoy the time out with your kids?
Now, if I was sitting on my steps handing out candy I may have a drink in a cup (though not likely lol). But when walking around? That strikes me as odd. Never heard that before.
