And don't kid youself - Just b/c you start of finish your commentary with "I'm NOT judging, *I* just would NEVER do XYZ" doesn't take away from the fact that you ARE judging -
See I don't get this.
Just because I say "I wouldn't do it" automatically means I'm judging someone who does something I wouldn't?
So am I just not to give my opinion?
How does one give an opinion without being accused of judging?
I'm not being a smart a$$ ...I'm really curious.
ETS: FWIW...I don't think anyone needs to explain why they do or don't do something.
Giving your opinion by saying "I wouldn't do that" or "I'm not comfortable with that" is simply making a statement and leaving it at that -
Judging is saying "it's fine for you, but I"D NEVER DO THAT ....." KWIM?
Well, thank you so much for your approval that you think it's fine for me to screw up my kid, but you would NEVER do such a thing ........
Someone obviously needs a drink now. You are getting carried away with this. In my opinion BTW.
Carried away w/ what? She asked me to explain myself and I did - End of story.

ITA...to me its all a bunch of opinions that it. If we want to call it judging then it would be the same for the opposing view. Both sides would be guilty of juding. IMHO...this is not the case. To me, the whole thread is ALOT of opinions bc in the end, no one changed anyones mind on next years Halloween, correct?

I kind of agree with you. But I DO think that as moms (well parents in general) it is completely normal to have some judgmental feelings towards others. It just proves that we all feel very strongly about our children and what is best for them. I think its perfectly OK to have these feelings, as long as the opinion is written out or vocalized in a way that is not hurtful to others. And I didnt really see may hurtful things in this post.
And you are so right! Next year, we will do the same exact thing, regardless of what anyone thinks! Well, we'll be adding a bottle of wine to our wagon since I'll be able to drink next year

Where you in Ronkonkoma? Because I just heard some people in my neighbor were doing this. One parent at the bus stop thought it was a great idea. I don't understand it at all. You are trick or treating. You cannot have fun with your children without a drink?

Thanks for the reminder Gerty! This year we'll have a red wagon instead of just a stroller. SO MUCH more room for booze this time!!!

Re: parents drinking while kids trick or treat!
DH plans to set up a tailgate in the driveway. He is missing the Jets to stay home with us. The TV will be out and I bet plenty of dads will be making a longer stop at our house.....and yes we will have beer for everyone!
We will also be ToTing together but if last year is any indication, 10 houses is the limit. And we can see our house from both ways down the street.
