Parents of 10 Year Old girls, help me!!
My DS is 10. There is a little girl he has played with forever, since they were in pre-k. DS has a total "crush" on her. They are into the same things, carpool to orchestra every week, etc. They are good friends, but DS really "likes" her, you know?
DS approached me today saying he wanted to get her a Christmas present, and asked me to take him to Claire's this weekend to pick out a bracelet. He has his own money for this.
I have no problem with him doing this, I actually think it's kind of cute. However, as a MOM, would you be upset in any way if your 10 year old, in fifth grade, came home with a Christmas present from a boy? I like the mom, we are friendly, and I don't want to do anything that might be inappropriate. What do you think?

I don't see it as a big deal but if you are friendly with the mom is there any way you could ask her jic?

We are friendly in a PTA, carpool kind of way, and I don't want it to come off weird, and I also don't want to intrude on DS's little "relationship" so to speak. I don't want it to be like "Nick got you a Christmas present, so be nice to him," KWIM? If my kid is going to be liked by a girl I want it to be on his own merits, not because her mom is making her!
OMG, how did he get so big that I'm even thinking about this stuff??

Re: Parents of 10 Year Old girls, help me!!
I have to tell you, I have a DD that will be 10 in a few weeks. On her Bday 2 years ago, a little boy that has liked her since Kindergarten knocked on our door, I answered, He ran His mom came to the door(who I kinda knew) with a gift in hand. Her son had begged her to buy my DD a bday gift. It was a fairy book with a fairy necklace included . The best part was he made her a card and wrote her a full page letter . You better believe this made her birthday. I thought it was super sweet. That letter is in her memory box.

I think it's sweet and wouldn't consider it inappropriate. My DD has come home with a small little birthday present from a boy in her class and I didn't see the big deal.

Ihave an 11 year old son, and he bought his "girlfriend" a stuffed animal for Christmas last year. It was cute and innocent!
