Parents or IL's coming from out of town
For those of you that have parents or IL's coming from OOT for the birth, how do you decide when to have them fly in?

Hmm thats tough, do you want them in the delivery room?
If not I guess have your DH call them as soon as your admitted to the hospital. I wouldn't go by your due date since its so unpredictable.
Or obviously if you have a scheduled C-section then base it around that.

My mom wants to be there for the birth, but she might step out during the pushing. Dad will come after arrives. But I have no idea how I'm going to plan it.

They're in Florida - I always fly Jet Blue when I go to see them, and you can change your ticket (it's $100 change fee and the difference in price for the new flight).

When my SIL went into labor in Kansas, my bro called my mom and she booked the next flight.

Re: Parents or IL's coming from out of town
We have parents & IL's coming in from out of town. They most likely will not be flying though. We are 5 hours driving distance away. I am going to leave it up to them. I think my mom has a plan to have a bag packed towards the end & keep it in the car. When we call to tell her I am in labor she is going to get on the road. I think MIL will prob do the same either drive w/ my mom or hope on a train. I only want DH in the delivery room so I guess there is less of a time crunch.
eta: I think the dads will come down the next day after is born.

Re: Parents or IL's coming from out of town
I want help when I am out of the hospital. Since i am having a C, I am having my mom come when I am discharged. I was hoping to have MIL right after, but she decided to come when I am in the hospital due to scheduling conflicts. (Don't get me started )

Re: Parents or IL's coming from out of town
My inlaws are in Albany so it's only a 4 hour drive for them.
I know my MIL is going to be very nervous about intruding, but honestly, I want her there. DH wants her there. So we're hoping they will decide to come down when we make the call that we're heading to the hospital.

That's probably the best idea for me. This way she can be here for a week after the baby comes and not be waiting around for me to go into labor.
