Parents or Il's that won't visit?
Does anybody else's parents or IL's won't drive to visit them? We live about 3 hours between both sets of parnets and we can't get them to come stay with us, they always expect us to drive to them, and i am sick of it. Between work and pets and any other excuse they can come up with, they won't drive to visit us. So now we have to sacrifice two weekends this month to go visit each of them. Does anybody else have to do this? Maye the solution is either you come to us or you don't see us. And they expect us to visit like every month.

My inlaws live 30 minutes from us and won't visit. They visit my SIL who lives 10 minutes closer to them, though

My Dad has been very sick lately but even before that My Dad & Stepmother who live maybe 30-45 min from me & my brother consider it 'long distance' and find every excuse not to drive here. They will visit my brother more because of the baby but why should they drive the five minutes to stop by my house.

At least now I know thats its not just my family that won't visit. I just hate going there for a whole weekend, I feel like its a waste becasue we stiill have work to do on our house and we can't do that when we are visiting them, since they both live three hours away, we are forced to go for the entire weekend.

Re: Parents or Il's that won't visit?
My inlaws live in Rochester and NEVER visit. They came down for our wedding last year, but it has been a struggle to get them to come down again to see our new apt. My FIL hates the city and my MIL is pretty dependent on him... I could care less whether or not they come, but I feel bad for DH.
On the other hand, we have to tell my parents to go home

Re: Parents or Il's that won't visit?
My parent's live 30 minutes away from us and never visit. DH was mentioning the other day how my parents haven't come to our house since Thanksgiving. They come twice a year, once for Thanksgiving, once over the summer for a BBQ.
It makes me mad. DH has mentioned moving to NC and I said how can I, I will never see my parents! If they can't drive from Commack to Levittown, how will they ever make it to NC!

Re: Parents or Il's that won't visit?
My ILs live in NC. They have come to visit once since their grandson was born 2 years ago.
My mother lives in FL and she has made several trips to NY but she claims she is now "done". It's frustrating because WE are the ones with the small child. Traveling is MUCH harder for us than it is for them even if they (my ILs) are "old"...which they aren't but that's their excuse.
